SIMPLY GIVE...DAY 22

SIMPLY GIVE... SOMETHING OF YOUR CHOICE!

"the manner of giving is worth more than the gift"
~ pierre cornelle

start your day looking for a way to bless someone! it could be anything! just be on the look out for an opportunity! if you see someone raking their leaves, maybe go help them, return a cart for someone at target, have a conversation with an older lady in the grocery store when you really don't have time!

last year about this time shawn and i were at walmart around 10 pm, and the lines were extremely long as usual! i was just looking around and this little boy caught my eye! he was so cute and was so excited to see a ball sitting on top of the mini refrigerator's by the check out...i guess someone didn't want it! he didn't take his eye off that ball till i said "hi buddy! do you like basketball?" and smiled and nodded. he had a few members of his family with him and they just smiled too! it was obvious that they couldn't afford more than what they had in their hands, milk, bread, eggs and a few other items! they had dirty clothes on and holes in their shoes! my heart broke for them! then i felt like God was trying to tell me to buy this little boy the ball! i thought to myself "would God tell me to buy a ball for a little boy when they needed so much more than that?" so i said something to shawn "hey , i feel like i should buy that little boy that ball up there" shawn said "liv, you don't even know them, why would you buy it? you can if you want but what if they think its weird?" and i thought again "ok,should i buy it? what should i say when i give it to him?" i got kinda nervous! so, it was almost our turn to go to the register,my heart was beating because i was going back and forth should i,shouldn't i? then i reached up on top of the refrigerator and grabbed the ball. the little boys face went from smiling to looking like he was going to cry! so, it was the first thing i swiped through the register and i turned around, squatted down to his level and said "here buddy, this is for you!" you would of thought i gave he and his family a million dollars!!! (even though the ball was only $5.88) all he kept saying was "ball.ball.ball" i did try to be discreet about it ,but his family had been so excited that everyone that was in line (all 20 people behind us) saw what happened and their grumpy attitudes from waiting in line forever all went into smiles!!!! i couldn't stop smiling on the way out!! that made my night! shawn couldn't stop smiling either!!! we decided from then on to be on the look out to bless people in anyway we can!!!

check back tomorrow to see what day 23 is of the "30 day live to give challenge"

  1. Liv, I like how you are so real in how you tell this story! It was just a ball but you kept going between; buy it, not buy it, not buy it. That family will remember that forevever, and the others that witnessed it!
